Cationorm is a preservative-free cationic nanoemulsion lubricant that uses electrostatic attraction to the negatively charged ocular surface to improve retention and lipid layer supplementation. It is designed for patients with evaporative dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction.
Mechanism of Action
The positively charged (cationic) nanoemulsion droplets are electrostatically attracted to the negatively charged mucin layer of the ocular surface, improving retention time compared to conventional anionic or neutral lubricants. The oil phase supplements the tear film lipid layer.
